Eric Baller

As Chief Product Officer, Eric is responsible for Radian’s software solutions, including setting direction, planning releases, and building customer success. He joined Radian in 2015 as Chief Technology Officer and launched the Lens™ platform at Solar Power International (SPI) that year with two beta customers. Taking on the additional role of Chief Operating Officer at Radian from 2018-2021, Eric led the team providing third-party asset management services across more than a Gigawatt of solar projects. This provided a visceral understanding of the perspectives and challenges of the portfolio manager role, along with the many other roles required to deliver investment performance, that drives the Radian roadmap.

Involved in both the financing of and technical performance of renewables since 2008, Eric brings a combination of investor and technology perspectives. This has fit well with Radian’s expansive view of how asset managers can improve outcomes for all involved in renewable energy projects. Eric’s early career combined technology and finance, starting with machine learning for government classification problems and moving to technology solutions for oil traders valuing thirty-year hedge contracts. He then joined a startup focused on Internet of Things applications for remote service that received venture backing. When that company was acquired, he co-founded a company to bring remote monitoring technology to the financing of renewable thermal assets. The technology still survives, and his patent `was sold to Google as part of Alphabet’s venture in geothermal heating and cooling, Dandelion Energy.

Eric holds an M.B.A. from the University of Rochester’s Simon School of Business, an M.S. in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University, and a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the Rochester Institute of Technology.
